10.00am
-12.00pm From age 5 -11years
This is a very popular class for young
children who love art. Every Saturday morning during term
time we meet to have two hours of fun, informal, educational
art activity. Young children need time to experiment with
materials and explore this vast subject. As a qualified teacher
I aim to encourage the children to gain confidence in their
capabilities and develop their imaginations in their art.
Some incidental art history is introduced so that the children
become aware of art in context and appreciate different styles
and movements.
Some of the activities include observational drawing, learning
to use watercolours, and poster paints and discovering how
to mix colours, effectively. We also use collage, and work
three dimensionally using clay and found materials.
Some recent projects have included looking at the stone carvings
in the Southwell Minster and then making clay heads to represent
the Green Men in the Chapter House.
The Saturday Club also took part in the 'Big Draw' at the
Minster and some wonderful drawings were produced.
This class is a drop in class and all materials are provided
but a sketchbook is useful. Refreshments are provided.
Book a week in advance as places are limited.
Summer Holiday Workshops
During the summer holidays there are workshops which include
a variety of art activities to keep children busy and stimulated.
The workshops are usually run for four mornings each week.
